21 Days to Getting Organized!

Over at A Bowl Full of Lemons, she is having a 21 days to getting organized challenge. Like most people around New Years, I try to set a resolution to get more organized. So, I wanted to join in on this challenge! I've actually started doing some organization in my home, so if something comes up that I've already done, I may skip that day. I'm excited for this challenge, honestly! I would love to be more organized than I am. If you would like to join, too, head on over to A Bowl Full of Lemons and let her know you are joining the challenge!

Christmas Subway Art

You know how I love subway art! Well, here is my Christmas one!
 I love the swirly tree!

I ended up putting glitter on the snowflakes to help them stand out more

Sorry the pictures aren't great. I really need to start trying to take the pictures during the day instead of after my daughter goes to bed. :)

Christmas Wreath

I saw this wreath on Tatertots & Jello, and I really wanted to make it! I decided to go with more traditional Christmas colors, so I did the red, green, and added some silver. I started out the way it said, to hot glue the stuff onto the wire form. However, I wasn't as careful as I should have been and when I had a little of it done, I burned my finger pretty bad! The glue dripped down onto my finger. My husband decided the best thing was to put ice on it, and I sat there for 45 min. with ice on my fingers, and they were still throbbing after that. I decided that I was going to wrap the wire form in fabric. I ended up pulling all the stuff off that I had previously glued on.  I then cut some red fabric into strips and wrapped. While I wrapped, I hot glued the fabric down. Then I started the process over. It isn't perfect, but it's good enough for now. :)

Sorry I was a little MIA. My daughter was sick for a little bit, and then I got it. My husband and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary on Dec. 8th! I can't believe we've been married for 3 years! He is wonderful and is pretty good about all my crafting. :)

I was featured!

This post is more of me being a dork! I was blog hopping like I do when my daughter goes down for her nap, and I went to Scraps & Scribbles where I noticed my fall subway art was featured! I was so excited! This was my first time being featured. So, I just wanted to say Thank you to Courtney for featuring me in her post!

Fall Subway Art

I love making subway art! After making the Halloween one, I knew I wanted to make a Fall one. I love how it turned out!

I just had to share this picture. I set it down to try to take a better picture without the glare of the sun, and my daughter had to get up close to it. She tried to peel the turkey off, so I knew I had to get it back on the wall. :)

I seriously cannot believe that Thanksgiving is just a few days away! I don't know where the time has gone!

Fall Wreath

I have been really into making wreaths lately, and here is my Fall/Thanksgiving wreath! It took longer than planned. My daughter has been teething molars lately, so she hasn't been sleeping as well. Nap time hasn't been very long the last little while, but hopefully once they cut, we can get back to crafting more. :)

I am a bit of a dork, but every time I get a new follower, I get super excited! So, I've decided that when I hit 100 followers, I am going to have a giveaway! Not sure what it will be yet, but I'll come up with something.

Halloween Silhouettes

I saw this at She Wears Flowers, and wanted to make one. I couldn't find the 3x3 canvas anywhere, but my friend came up with the idea of using those foam sheets. So we cut them down to 3x3 and we glued 2 pieces together to make it about the same size the canvas would have been. I used a cricut and vinyl for the images, and then put a coat of mod podge over the whole thing to make sure the newspaper wouldn't come up.

Boo Plaque Tutorial

I had originally planned to use these letters on my Boo wreath, but decided they were just too small for that. So I headed to the dollar store and found the wood and knew what I wanted to do. I didn't like the ribbon on it, so I took it off.

Supplies:
Boo letters (or anything you want it to have)
Dollar store wood plaque
Black paint
Scrapbook paper
Black glitter
Mod Podge
Ribbon for hanging

First I painted the back and sides of the wood black, and I also painted the letters. For the letters I painted all sides, front and back. I didn't want any wood showing anywhere.

I picked what paper I wanted for the background. I traced the wood onto the paper and cut it out. I then put mod podge on the wood and put the paper on top where I wanted it. That was easier than putting the mod podge on the paper. After it dried, I sanded the edges to make sure it sealed well. I then put a coat of mod podge over the paper.
Next, I put glitter on the letters.
I put mod podge on the letters and then poured the glitter onto that to make it stick. I dumped off all excess glitter into my tray so I could easily put it back into the container.

Here's the letters with all the glitter.
When everything was dry, I hot glued my letters onto my wood. They overlap each other a little.
I then picked what ribbon I wanted for the back and hot glued it on.
Thanks for stopping by!

Wreath

I saw this wreath at Craftaholics Anonymous and knew I had to make one!
Mine isn't as cute as hers, but it's similar.

I actually cut my strips 1" x 18" using a rotary cutter. Here is a pic of my pile of strips before I started tying them onto the wreath.
I had never worked with burlap before, and it was messier than I thought it would be. I had little pieces of it everywhere! It was all over the floor, and me! I didn't end up using all of the burlap that I had cut. I still had a pile of burlap when I was done with the wreath.

Here's what's left of my burlap.

Boo Plaque

I got these letters to make a wreath with, but decided I wanted something bigger for it. I decided to make a "Boo" plaque with it instead. I must say that I love how it turned out!

Halloween Subway Art

I know Subway Art is a big thing right now. I think they are so cute, and I just had to make a Halloween one.
I started by gathering my supplies:

Canvas (I used 16X20, but you can use any size you want, or wood, or anything you can think of really)
Paper (cardstock, designer)
Paint
Cricut
Glue
Modge Podge
Cricut Cartridges: I used October 31st, Happy Hauntings, and Pumpkin Carving
(Sorry for the slightly blurry picture. It was after dark and lighting wasn't great.)

I then painted my canvas black. I figured that was a good Halloween color. :)

I did this project with a friend. This is what her counter looked like with all our stuff on it.
We used her cricut to cut out words and pictures.
I loved the design of the Beware on this.
We cut out the spider web in Silver Vinyl.
After all the words and pictures were put on, I put a coat of modge podge over the entire thing to seal it.
Here are some close ups of my finished Subway Art!
I had so much fun making this, I'm thinking of making some for different holidays as well!
